About Joseph
My name is Joe, I'm 23 and have been pursuing my love of understanding the world since I can remember. Math and Sciences are one of the many keys to better understanding how the world works. These can be difficult subjects, but I intend to make them as easy as possible for you so I can share my joy of learning.
In High School (4.3 GPA), I competed in FTC Robotics competitions and I graduated from the University of California - San Diego (GPA 3.03) with a degree in Marine Biology and a minor in Climate Change Sciences.
I worked as a lab assistant to both climate change and marine biology professors prior to joining Superprof.
I have also taught students virtually before working for Cloud9 as part of their training grounds program for youth between 7-12th grade.
Most importantly, your education is my top priority and I am here to be a tutor & mentor as well as a friend. I hope I will see you in my class! - Joe

The best teachers in the world have the ability to make difficult concepts and ideas as simple as possible so anyone can understand. My goal is to make any concept you struggle with so intuitive that you could teach it yourself. Math and Science don't have to be difficult, if you are struggling to learn science and math that is not a personal failure; you probably just need a better teacher.
My lessons are aimed at those between 7-12th grade students who either are in need of help or are excited to learn more about science and mathematics.
Math and Science concepts should build on top of each other like Legos to help you better understand the world. Not frustrating puzzle pieces which don't connect or create a bigger picture.
A typical 1 hour lesson plan would proceed as follows:
- 5 minute check in, review and discussion:
----> Engage students, create common ground and lock in
- 5 minutes answering student questions before lecture
- 30 minute lecture on topic of the day.
----> Any longer and we might all lose focus or get bored.
- 10 minute Q/A, practice problems, or practical examples
- Last 5 minutes: Share extra resources, review top 3 concepts and discuss next session's lesson.
