About Peyton
Peyton Dexter is a San Francisco based Composer, Pianist, and interdisciplinary artist. As a featured artist at the Wintergreen Music Festival his works were performed and recorded by the Wintergreen Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Erin Freeman. His string quartet Bealtaine was recently premiered by the GRAMMY-winning Telegraph Quartet, His Aria for Solo Cello was premiered by Sara Kapps, his Prayer for 14 string instruments and vocalist was premiered by the WSO and Virginia Douglas, his song cycle 5 Twain Songs was recorded by vocalist Erica Meyers and Tyler Ono, he was recently commissioned by Jon Lee to write "Bagatelle", and he was a featured artist at the 2024 Hot Air Music Festival. Peyton is also the Co-founder and Creative Director of Art Is, an interdisciplinary arts collective that produces exciting audience driven performances and events in the Bay Area. After studying with composer Daron Hagen, Peyton began studying with GRAMMY-winning composer Mason Bates at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he also studies piano with Alla Gladysheva. Peyton has written multiple works for orchestra, chamber, solo, as well as jazz ensembles, and he is also an avid collaborative pianist.
