I'm a second year student at UC Davis. Although I have not tutored consistently enough to see the results of my teaching, I have helped many people gain a better understanding of topics that they are struggling with in school, specifically mathematics.

I am looking to tutor children and adolescents (grades K-12). First, I would like to get to know my students so that I can get a better understanding of what teaching style will be most helpful for them. I usually find it most effective to walk students through example problems and then allowing them to practice ones on their own, which we will go over after completion. I am serious about helping the students succeed, and at the same time, I know what it's like to be a student in our current society—it's stressful! Because of this, I believe that it is important for our sessions to also include brain breaks for casual conversation, snacks, or whatever will be most supportive for my student. While I am tutoring, I also want to encourage my students to be conscious of their mental health—how they're feeling, what they feel would be most supportive for them in that moment, talking about their day in between teaching, etc. Taking care of yourself and your mental health is a huge key to success.
