About Sergul
I am a second year student studying physics at the University of Manchester. I offer online lessons but am also open to in person lessons if the travel is reasonable. In my online lessons I share my screen on my iPad and also have my video on. I attended a secondary school where I had supply teachers most of the time and had to teach my GCSEs to myself and this is where my love of tutoring started. During my year 11 summer, I tutored a girl for her 11+ exams and then I went onto tutoring GCSE students. Once starting university I started offering A Level lessons. I believe that every student is capable of succeeding in any subject they wish to, even if they require additional help and I will be there to help.

I follow a student-based approach. In my first lesson I get to know the student and ask them what ways they learn best. I then plan future lessons accordingly. For me feedback is very important; I ask my students for feedback on my teaching and tweak my lessons based on this. I also make sure that my student fully understands a concept before moving on. I try and foster a comfortable environment so that the student feels safe to ask for help. I had two GCSE students last academic year and they both achieved 9s in the subjects I tutored them. I am also flexible and can arrange lessons based on the student's schedule. Additionally, I encourage the student to ask me questions outside of the lesson if they are stuck and get back to them in a timely manner.
