I was a dancer once upon a time. But career and health took a toll on me and dancing went into oblivion in my life. I am lucky to have found my Nritya guru in Mrs Ganguly in the fact that she is teaching the dance in a way different from the other teachers. She realised that I am out of touch with a very stiff body and aged limbs. Mrs Ganguly is very encouraging and considerate and helps me a lot. She starts with a discourse on the dance which is thoroughly interesting and eye opening. Then instead of plunging straight into dance with mudras and footworks, she takes body conditioning classes in order to make the body flexible and adoptive to the new type of dance that it is going to do. Allover it is very interesting. She also takes personal care of the students, and she is much relaxed and flexible in her method of teaching so that it doesn't burden you with lots of rules.

Momm Ganguly Ma'am is an excellent, well-experienced teacher of Mohiniattam. As an established dancer herself, Ma'am innovates new teaching methods for faster learning of the complex movement vocabulary of the dance form. She also teaches dance theory, the history of the dance alongside the performance art training. In the beginning of the class she focuses on body conditioning to enhance firm control over limbs and torso for strength, graceful and injury-free dancing. Her demeanor is extremely friendly and caring. The day I met her, I knew she loves doing what she does best! Her many students who have been learning Mohiniattam under her expert tutelage can safely vouch for her sincerity towards instructing a classical dance in the most homely, safe environment. Her classes are a lot of fun!

I’ve been learning dance from Momm ma’am since I was a teenager. She is truly an exemplary artist and even better teacher. I have always seen her be extremely patient with students and give a great amount of attention to beginners as well as experienced dancers. I definitely recommend learning Mohiniyattam from her as she is very passionate about what she does!
