About Claudia
I hold a BA in English Literature and Linguistics (University of Oviedo, Spain 2011) and a MLitt in Creative Writing (University of Glasgow, 2014). As well, I am a qualified teacher in the UK and have been teaching Spanish GCSE and A-level for the last five years in a comprehensive school in inner London. Prior to that, I taught Spanish language at the University of Glasgow and have worked internationally in schools in Beijing, China.
As a Spanish teacher, I have experience teaching the new GCSE syllabus with outstanding results the last two years (value added, +2). In my lesson, grammar is taught effectively and exam skills are explored in every lesson. Likewise, learning about the language in a culture-related context it is paramount in order to not only get excellent result but also enjoy the subject. As an A-level teacher, I have well-versed in the new curriculum (AQA especially) and have taught Lorca's La Casa de Bernarda Alba and Marquez's El Coronel no tiene Quien le Escriba. The films that I have taught are Volver and Pan's Labyrinth. I have conducted the Speaking exams at A-level and have ample experience in delivering speaking-content, focusing on the skills needed and what examiners look for in the exams.
