About Jess
CRLA certified tutor, teacher, curriculum designer, and corporate instructional designer with 15+ years of experience in US and UK classrooms and curricula.
No one *plans* on collecting degrees or accidentally exploring every academic department, but I enjoyed every bit of it! In the penultimate year of my pre-med degree (biology, chemistry, genetics), I took an elective in plant genetics and was immediately hooked on agriculture, domestication of species, ecology, ancient history, and anthropology. Through a few more semesters of double and triple course loads, I studied natural resource management, forestry, geography, political science, and economics. This mish-mash was immediately utilized by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), where I worked on projects in Latin America and southeast Asia.
Teaching is - and has always been - my true passion. Inside the classroom and out, I love connecting STEM topics to the real world!

I believe in connecting topics to a learner's passions, creating practical examples, and - using the Cambridge model - allowing the student to teach the lesson back to gauge comprehension.
I have taught grades 5 through college seniors; the majority of my tutoring clients have been in grades 9 to early college.
