About Alexandra
I love helping others, so naturally, I am extremely passionate about advocacy, community organizing, and education. I have been involved with Future Leaders of America for the past 4 years, and fought for Education Equity in the Oxnard Union High School District. With FLA, I have also gained mentorship and communication skills, and I have been a peer-mentor for three summer leadership camps thus far. Additionally, in their youth-led branch, Future Leaders of America Master Achievers, I have served as President and Treasurer, in which my roles have furthered my skills in facilitations and leadership.
In terms of teaching, I have a wide range of experience doing so. In the 10th grade, I tutored 3 AP Human Geography students after school for a year. Just this past March, I did research and presented my own workshop at Brown Issues Statewide Youth Conference in Sacramento. The workshop was titled. “Imposter or Oppressed? An Analysis of Latinx Sentiment in American Society,” which explored the historical oppression of Brown Latin people and how that inherited trauma has manifested in mental issues.
I also have two younger sisters, a 6th and 8th graders, who come to me anytime they need any kind of school help. My favorite thing to teach them, and other is Math because it is like puzzles to me.

I am a Bowdoin College first-year who has worked diligently within many subject areas and many class levels. I have familiarized myself with effective study habits, which would include warm-up problems, inclusive lectures/discussions about the topic, and asking the student to explain THEIR train of thought! I believe the student has to have confidence, and we will build that confidence by ensuring students understand every step of the topic.
