About Palesa
I am Palesa Mosholi, a student from the University of Pretoria who is in her final year. I am currently studying abachelor's degree in Education, specialising in Senior Phase and FET. My majors are Geography and Tourism. I am also able to teach Social Sciences and assist with Afrikaans FAL. I am a bubbly person who enjoys assisting people academically and with anything that they may need. I am a dedicated hardworking individual. In everything that I get given to do, I do it with my utmost best ability. I am always willing to adapt in any given situation. I enjoy new challenges because I believe challenges are a way for one to grow individually and in their professional life. I am very disciplined when it comes to my work ethic. I have a few months experience in teaching as I received the opportunity to practice teaching while studying. I have taught at private schools as well as township schools. This allowed me to experience how schools are different from each other. As a person and as a teacher, I always want the best for learners because being a teacher is not just about teaching, but it is about the learners, their future and them being able to participate in society. Teachers nurture their learners for their future.

I try to take into account how a learner prefers to learn (by reading, listening, demonstration, etc) and use that to teach learners. It is important to note that learners learn differently and teaching is not a one size fits all approach. I use English to teach but if I do need to code switch in order for learners to understand content, I will do so but ensuring that they do not confuse what is being said in a different language. I also try by all means to relate content to learners everyday lives in order for them to get a better understanding. In geography and tourism, I always enjoy using some sort of demonstration, videos, imagery in my lessons for the learners to interact with as they will remember those better than listening to the teacher teach. In terms of language, it is a matter of explaining things in a language one understands, explaining new words and adding onto their vocabulary. Reading, writing and oral speaking is used a lot in the language lessons. As mentioned before, I specialise in Senior Phase and FET grades (7-12).
