About Mari
I’m a professional musician with my Masters from Northwestern and my Bachelors from UCLA. Especially passionate about orchestral music, I have held concertmaster positions with the Santa Monica Symphony, Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra, North Shore Chamber Orchestra, and South Side Symphony. I have performed alongside legends such as Jack Black, Herbie Hancock, Anne Akiko Meyers, and my musical accolades have taken me globally. I have performed on major stages from Carnegie Hall to halls in Finland. Over the summers, I have had the opportunity to study orchestral excerpts as a scholarship student at Aspen Music Festival, Brevard Music Festival, and Musique A Flaine. Recently, I started my string quartet, Evanston String Quartet, while a Masters student at NU and we have played over 100 weddings. I also own and run a private music studio, Ms. Mari’s String Studio, with 27 students.

With over 22 years of violin and viola experience, I understand how challenging it is to learn a new instrument. As a certified Suzuki teacher with decades of experience (and over 50 students taught to date), you can be assured you’re in good hands. I aim to make learning fun through games, practice challenges, and lots of manageable practice plans for the week. I am patient, supportive, and am especially well suited for those who struggle with perfectionism and self-judgment. I create a safe environment to explore your innate musicality and ensure that your instrument is a vehicle for your creativity. Whether it’s Mozart or Taylor Swift that you want to play, I’m here to be your support system!
