About Kayla
I am passionate about teaching, research and combating the proliferation of pseudoscience in psychology. You can find me talking about psychedelics and repressed memory research on TikTok.
For nearly 3 years, I taught for the University of Adelaide online GDP with lots of strong positive student feedback. While I loved this role, I no longer feel ethically aligned with their program and how they teach students. I’ve decided to move to private teaching in order to better support students to really understand what is expected of them in undergrad and as future evidence-based clinicians.
Prior to starting my PhD at Sydney Uni, I completed the Monash GDPA with an HD average. I also have a BA in philosophy/economics. I am a dual Canadian-Australian citizen and worked as an editor for the Vietnamese government. I also worked in domestic violence/sexual assault response services in Canberra before moving to Sydney.

I have been teaching undergrad psychology for 4+ years and am passionate about getting students to critically engage with research. I am particularly interested in helping first generation and career-transition/mature age students to get HDs.
As someone who has marked hundreds (if not a thousand or more!) assessments, my approach starts with helping you to understand what markers are looking for in your work. I teach all of the skills for writing and research that aren’t taught in your degree program, including how to find and critically engage with research.
