About Ricky
I'm a recipient of a Graduate Teaching Award from the Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta, which was awarded in recognition of academic excellence in the field of teaching and mentorship (2016). I completed my bachelor's degree in Geography (2011), worked as a research assistant in the field of climate science (2011 - 2013), and worked on a master's degree in the field of climate science (2013 - 2019). Since 2019, I have been working as a freelance writing tutor, helping students at university improve their academic writing and academic thinking skills. Cheers, Ricky

Hey! Since 2019 I have helped university students improve their academic writing and quality of research in a range of disciplines in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. In this role, I'm able to pass on the writing skills that I learned during my graduate degree to help you, the writer, produce an essay or thesis that tells the reader what you wanted to say. I usually edit a lot of writing for students who hire me. I also spend a lot of time talking with students, helping them to identify, shape, and refine their research ideas when they are in the planning stage of writing an essay. This means that I also read the research papers that my students send me so that I can familiarize myself with their research topic and advise accordingly. If we are working over a video call, which happens a lot, I recommend that we collaborate through Google Meets (for video chat) and Google Docs, where we can share, edit, and practice writing in real time. While I cannot and would never write an essay for someone else, I am here to provide you with the writing and learning based tools that will empower you to write your own essays. As I tell all my students, the writing process takes time. It takes intellectual motivation and energy to think, read, think a bit more, then read a bit more, before you start writing. But if you're willing to put in the effort, the results will come. I consider myself a kind, friendly, and understanding person who delivers feedback in a constructive way. On a good day I'm pretty smart too. Aside from helping university students, I also help students in high school and older folks returning to school after many years away from academia. I have plenty of availability throughout the week, including weekends and holidays. Can't wait to help you, cheers! Ricky
