I graduated with an MA in Musical Theatre from the Royal Academy of Music and, as a performer, have opened for Sir Tom Jones on tour, performed in concerts for Disney and most recently appeared in Comedy of Errors (Royal Shakespeare Company), Jerry Springer: The Opera (Hope Mill Theatre, Manchester), Jekyll & Hyde (English Theatre, Frankfurt), Making A Murderer: The Musical (Underbelly Edinburgh Festival) and Mob Wife (Cockpit Theatre, London).
Additionally I am a singing and acting teacher of 5 years standing, teaching at the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester, Midlands Academy of Musical Theatre (MAMT), School of Theatre Excellence and the University of Birmingham as well as delivering workshops to a number of schools and youth theatres across the region.
Over the last 3 years my private students have successfully gained places on Musical Theatre degree programmes at Royal Scottish Conservatoire, Urdang Academy, University of Chichester and Leeds College of Music. BA Acting successes include E15 and Arts Ed. Another student was accepted in to the National Youth Theatre. Additionally a student of mine successfully signed with a top west end theatrical agency.

I am very much led by the desires and wants of the student I am teaching - what they want to get out of it - whilst also keeping in mind the professional expectations that will be exacted upon them.
My skills and experience best serve the preparation of a student for drama school auditions, particularly Musical Theatre. I am able to offer selection and preparation of appropriate song and monologue materials, audition technique, practice panel questions and interview and mock auditions with a live pianist (extra cost).

Perfect! We found Matt after having been advised that our son would benefit from a male singing teacher. We are so glad we did find him. He has been so much more than a singing teacher! His advice has been invaluable. From the first lesson he honed in on our son’s strengths and weaknesses and adjusted his teaching style to suit. Not only did he help our son progress with his singing but also built his confidence and taught him so much more. He gave advice on Universities, helped with audition pieces and gave coaching on acting elements too. Matt has been excellent for Alex and we can’t recommend him highly enough. With Matt’s help our son is now starting on a Musical Theatre Degree course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland!
Alex says: I got on well with Matt right from the first lesson. He has helped me so much with both my singing and acting and really brought on my ability to tell stories through song. Matt has really helped me understand what it’s like to enter the musical theatre industry and, after having 4 months of lessons, I successfully signed with a west end agency. I really don’t think I could have done it without his coaching and insight.
Matt is a great acting teacher. If you need help gaining confidence, as well as an abundance of knowledge to help you feel more free in the space and on the stage, Matt is your guy.
Acting used to feel like a chore in a sense that practising felt like a strict discipline, when all a long the main thing I needed was freedom. If you need help accomplishing this, get in touch with Matt.Matt has taught me to sing since the day when I couldn't hold a note or be heard above a whisper. His teaching techniques ensured I sing in a safe and controlled way, developing my voice and ability to sing powerful songs I would never have thought possible. On top of it all, his lessons are so much fun. I couldn't recommend him more.

But also in the lessons i had with him
He completely opened my eyes to a way forward to a singer's identity and to be an individual as an Artist.

£40 per hour for one to one lessons. £50 for 1.5 hours
Travel cost within London is fee plus £10
£200 for 3 hour group (up to 10) workshop.
£350 for full day workshop for up to 20.
