About Leo
In 2013-2014, I tutored a student (aged 12) with learning disabilities. During this time, I worked closely with the school's psychologist to develop a learning plan based on the learner's needs. The lessons I delivered provided a personalised and interactive experience into teaching English as a foreign language, which translated into satisfying academic progress. In 2016-2017, I tutored an adult (aged 40). I planned lessons to include a balanced combination of activities to help him learn and practise all four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking). At the end of the year, he felt confident in his language skills to move to Brazil, a Portuguese-speaking country. In my current role as a Support Worker, I continue to close the achievement gap by adopting a person-centred framework to meet the needs of each individual. I look forward to having the opportunity to use my years in Special Education to foster a classroom environment conducive to students of all backgrounds and abilities.

Hello! My name is Leo. I am a Portuguese native speaker, with a Master of Science in International Business and two teaching accreditations (TEFL and Business English). I will use the trial lesson to assess your level of Portuguese and/or English and to try to understand what your motivations for learning these languages are. The following lessons will be planned according to your age, interests and preferred learning style. I am flexible and can fit the lessons to fit your schedule.

I know Leo from both of us working with adults with additional support needs. She was the staff member I shadowed on my first day. She was extremely friendly and made me feel at ease at the very start, in a work environment that didn't take too kindly to new members of staff.
She was very knowledgeable of her role and was extremely caring to the people she supported. Every time I saw her at work, she was friendly & approachable yet also being professional and hard working. You knew when Leo was on shift, you would trust that things would be done to a high standard.
