About Sophie
Hello! My name is Sophie. I am trained as a TEFL teacher. Why do I enjoy teaching English? Well, there are many reasons. Firstly, I am a languages student myself. I studied languages at university and absolutely love to travel and use my knowledge to understand the culture better. I am genuinely interested by how languages are formed and why they sound the way they do. I am an enthusiastic linguist, and this helps me bring understanding to our lessons. I can help explain exactly how to pronounce words, explain the grammar clearly. I can do this, because I have that knowledge of language and linguistics myself! Also, I have worked in education for ten years. As a teaching assistant, and now, training as a schoolteacher. I therefore am skilled in teaching and enjoy it. I do believe that learning is best when it is engaging and interactive. This is why I like to bring fun to the lessons, understanding grammar through music, articles and even theatre plays. Yes, that’s right, if you like, we can read parts of a theatre script together, and unravel the language through that. I can make the lessons tailored to your learning style. If you want to focus on grammar, or exam preparation, we can do that. In fact, one of my students has said: ‘Sophie’s lessons are fun and full of content, and she motivates her students to do their best! I can recognise my improvement in the language!’ As well as this, I am a singer/songwriter and artist, and I have also worked on the radio. I know a lot about accent and pronunciation and can help you perfect your English so that you sound like a native!

Hello! Would you like to improve your English? My lessons are for all levels - beginner to advanced. I have taught students at the beginning all the way to supporting students studying law in English. I believe learning should be fun and interactive. I incorporate real life topics and phrases, that we actually use in England, so that you can speak authentically. We will learn through interesting conversations and games, role play, music and debates! For example, to learn phrasal verbs, we can look at music lyrics and explore them. I will tailor it to your needs. Also, I am a trainee schoolteacher and know a lot about education. You can come along with specific things you want to learn. I can help you prepare for exams :)
