About Damien
I am a cum laude graduate from the University of the Witwatersrand, the top Dramatic Arts institution in South Africa.
I am a theatre-maker, actor and writer with plenty of experience in acting on the stage. I have performed at the Johannesburg Theatre, The Theatre on the Square, The Wits Theatre Complex and the State Theatre. My experience is met with an unbridled passion and work-ethic.
My acting philosophy looks to demystify the acting process, enabling myself and my students to discover their character through uninhibited 'play'.

From a theory perspective, I can provide flexible lessons that will aid in helping you to understand dramatic concepts, analysing scripts and structuring essays. These lessons will be tailored towards your needs at the time, focusing on breaking down and simplifying theory.
Practically, I can provide acting coaching for any piece that you are rehearsing. My acting work is grounded in a philosophy of simplifying the acting process, focusing on the character's intentions, making bold creative choices and having fun whilst doing it! After all, that's what is most important in the theatre. These lessons will also be tailored towards your individual requirements for the piece at hand.
As a trained writer, can also provide editing and support for the writing process to ensure you write the best script possible.
