About Helena
I graduated from Bath Spa University with a degree in Drama and History elective, while focusing on both Acting and Scenic artistry. In my career I have been fortunate to perform in the west end, fringe theatre, Pantomime, on screen within the like of TV and film, and work behind the scenes with creating set for the Royal Opera House. I have also trained in Meisner with the Cockpit Theatre, as well as trained under a RADA lecturer on a 1-2-1 basis.
I have taught abroad the English language and phonetics to children between the ages of 3-16 years while focusing on performance as a key ingredient.
I have a very firm understanding of text analysis which is essential for English exams. I also studied English Literature up to A level and got an A in my exam, and a B in my coursework so understand the structure of the course. I am experienced teaching English as a language so can help with sentence structure, essay structure and am able to offer examples of previous work including past exams.
I also would be more than happy to work with children at a Primary school level to develop their skills.
My specialisms lie in encouraging those who want to build confidence in their performance and public speaking, the ability to access inner emotions for acting purposes, Shakespeare, Theatre history as well as text analysis; and finally the social, political and contextual studies of London and Elizabethan history.
I have a firm understanding that every child would like to succeed and push the subjects they have a natural flair for. I am an encouraging teacher who will give honest but positive advice while being able to demonstrate the skills needed to pass exams, or just to be able to give a speech to work colleagues.
I understand the audition process for drama school and general acting auditions having go through it myself on a day to day basis, and have the knowledge to aide those undertaking coursework/ written assignments.
