I start by building a strong foundation in hand technique, posture, and basic bols (strokes). As students progress, we dive deeper into taals, compositions, kaidas, relas, tukras, and improvisation. I also incorporate theoretical knowledge, helping students understand rhythm cycles and how to apply them in both solo and accompaniment settings.
Classes typically follow a structured format:
1. Warm-up exercises and technique refinement
2. Revision of previous material
3. Learning new compositions or concepts
4. Rhythmic improvisation and practice drills
5. Q&A and feedback session
I combine traditional guru-shishya elements with a modern, student-friendly approach—ensuring that learning is engaging, clear, and enjoyable. Whether you wish to perform, accompany, or simply explore tabla as a meditative art, I’ll guide you with dedication every step of the way.
