About Daisy
We are Daisy Lonergan and Owen Brown, first-year students at Durham University, offering personalised tutoring in GCSE and A-Level English, History, and Politics. We are both passionate about the humanities and aim to create lessons that are supportive, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs and goals.
Daisy studies English at Durham University and has achieved A* grades in English Literature, English Language, Film Studies, and an EPQ exploring alternative forms of literature such as screenwriting and song. She is particularly interested in creative approaches to English and is passionate about helping students see the subject as dynamic, accessible, and relevant, rather than overly rigid or “traditional”.
Owen studies Combined Honours in English, History, and Politics at Durham University. He achieved A* grades in History and Politics and an A in English, and has a strong academic interest across the humanities. He is an avid reader with a particular enthusiasm for philosophical discussion, political ideas, and critical debate, and hopes to pursue a future in writing and/or academia. Having been state educated throughout his schooling, he understands the importance of accessible teaching that works for students from a wide range of academic backgrounds.
Together, we aim to combine strong subject knowledge with an approachable and encouraging teaching style. We understand that confidence plays a major role in academic success, and we work hard to ensure students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing their understanding at their own pace.

Our lessons are designed to be fully personalised, structured and focused on building both confidence and exam success. As Durham University students, we understand what it takes to achieve high grades at GCSE and A-Level, and we aim to pass on not just subject knowledge, but the skills needed to perform well under exam conditions. As well as this, we understand the pressure that can accompany preparation for GCSEs and A-Levels, and we use that perspective to bring a friendly and approachable style to our sessions, creating a relaxed atmosphere where students can feel comfortable and supported, while also maintaining a focus on academic progress.
We offer tutoring across GCSE and A-Level English Language, Literature, History, and Politics, with our lessons typically focusing on:
- Developing clear, structured essay writing
- Understanding and applying mark schemes effectively
- Building strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Our approach is highly student-led. In the first session, we take time to understand your current level, exam board, strengths, and areas for improvement. From there, we build a tailored plan that focuses on the skills that will make the biggest difference to your grades.
We currently offer online lessons only, allowing flexible scheduling and accessible support for students across the UK.
