About Tamar
I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and have always loved learning and working with students. I graduated from UCLA with a double major in History and Political Science, with a concentration in Political Theory, and graduated Cum Laude through the Scholars Honors Program.
I have two years of tutoring experience, including tutoring middle and high school students in math and English through the online platform GoPeer. I enjoy working with students one-on-one and helping them build confidence in subjects that may initially feel difficult or frustrating.
After graduating from UCLA, I spent a year in Germany as a Fulbright Research Scholar, and I am now preparing to begin a master's degree in International Security, Intelligence, and Strategic Studies through the Erasmus Mundus program.
Outside of academics, I love hiking, climbing, traveling, and exploring new places. I bring a patient, encouraging, and positive approach to my tutoring, and I enjoy helping students become more confident and independent learners. Though I majored in the social sciences and humanities in college, I've always loved math!

I tailor each lesson to the student's individual needs, learning style, and academic goals. Whether a student needs help with homework, is preparing for a test, or is struggling with a particular concept, I work at their pace and focus on building a strong understanding of the material.
My approach is patient, supportive, and step-by-step. Rather than simply showing students how to get the correct answer, I help them understand the reasoning behind each problem so that they can apply those skills independently in the future.
I can help students review challenging topics, work through practice problems, identify areas where they are struggling, and develop effective strategies for approaching math problems. I also aim to make lessons feel approachable and low-pressure, so students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as they learn.
My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them develop the confidence and problem-solving skills they need to succeed in math independently.
