About Phoebe
Hi there! My name is Phoebe, and I am currently in my second year studying BSc Human Sciences at Exeter University, based in Penryn, Cornwall. I am a HUGE fan of learning, and aim for my lessons to not only help my students to have a thorough understanding of the content they need, but to feel confident in using their knowledge out of the classroom. I aim to create a relaxed, but stimulating learning environment, with my goal being to not only teach the content, but impart a sense of wonder about the natural world. When I was studying for my Biology A-Level, I had some of the most passionate and inspiring teachers and tutors, who changed my learning experience from being a slog to completely captivating. I think that learning from someone who is passionate about their subject can make the most reluctant person interested, and this is what I hope to offer my students. Whether you are studying Biology as a means to an end or because you love it too, I hope to inspire confidence in your ability.

I use Zoom for my lessons (unless local), which tend to be an hour long. I generally let my students decide what we cover in a session, based on what they are currently learning and finding difficult. I set homework each week, which will most often be past-paper questions as this is the most effective way of getting 'exam-fit'. I mark these in-between lessons, and we go through them together the following week to ensure all misunderstandings are addressed and the student is confident in the concepts. I use a range of methods including interactive diagram drawings, quizzes, past-paper questions and explanations. I studied AQA Biology A-Level (Grade A), which I have a thorough understanding of and generally prefer to teach this exam board or OCR, although I am flexible to teach others on consultation. I am available to teach GCSE to A-Level students in either year of study. I have taught over 4 students in the last 4 years, both GCSE and A-Level, who have seen themselves improve and gain confidence immensely.
