About Camilo
¡Hola! My name is CAMILO, and I'm excited to help you embark on your journey to learning Spanish. As a native Spanish speaker and fluent English speaker, I bring a unique bilingual perspective to my teaching. I was born and raised in Colombia, where Spanish is the heart and soul of everyday life. My passion for languages and cultures inspired me to pursue a career in teaching, and I have been dedicated to helping students achieve their language goals for 5 years. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to polish your skills, I'm here to guide you every step of the way. In my classes, I focus on creating a friendly and immersive learning environment. We will explore not just the language, but also the rich and diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Lesson Outline
1. Warm-Up (10 minutes)
Introduction: Briefly introduce yourself in Spanish and then in English.
Icebreaker Activity: Have students pair up and ask each other simple questions like "What’s your name?" (¿Cómo te llamas?) and "Where are you from?" (¿De dónde eres?).
2. Vocabulary Building (15 minutes)
Greetings and Farewells: Teach common greetings (Hola, Buenos días, Buenas tardes, Buenas noches) and farewells (Adiós, Hasta luego, Nos vemos).
Introduction Phrases: Teach phrases like "My name is…" (Me llamo…), "I am from…" (Soy de…), and "Nice to meet you" (Mucho gusto).
3. Pronunciation Practice (10 minutes)
Phonetics: Introduce the Spanish alphabet and focus on difficult sounds, like the rolling ‘r’ and the ‘ñ’ sound.
Repetition: Have students repeat after you, focusing on correct pronunciation.
4. Interactive Activity (15 minutes)
Role-Playing: In pairs or small groups, students practice a simple dialogue incorporating greetings, introductions, and farewells.
Feedback: Circulate the room, offering corrections and encouraging students.
5. Grammar Basics (10 minutes)
Subject Pronouns: Introduce subject pronouns (yo, tú, él/ella, nosotros/as, vosotros/as, ellos/as).
Verb "Ser" (to be): Conjugate the verb "ser" in the present tense and use it in simple sentences.
6. Wrap-Up and Q&A (10 minutes)
Review: Recap the key points of the lesson.
Questions: Open the floor for any questions students might have.
Homework: Assign a short homework activity, such as writing a brief self-introduction in Spanish.
