About Andrew
I have launched my tutoring business because I see too many students being left behind by the school system. I have been a classroom teacher, a small school principal, a resource teacher of learning and behavior (RTLB). I hold a Master's degree in Educational Psychology, although I did not register as a psychologist. I also hold a teaching diploma and a postgraduate diploma in specialist teaching. I have spent many years working on the best ways to teach reading and writing to kiwi kids, and so have now left my full-time job to take up this tutoring.

Options for tuition: - online or in person (Palmerston North) - minimum 1 hour per week. Can be across two or three sessions. Maximum 5 hours per week per student. I use a model of teaching based on Direct Instruction and Precision Teaching. This means that the student is provided learning tasks that are at their level, and given a lot of support and feedback about their progress. Students always know what they are working on, why they are working on it, and what the aim is for next steps.

Details
Options: - in person at my home is a minimum 1 hour session, at least 1 session per week. - online sessions can be spread over two or three sessions, with a minimum total time of an hour a week. I may be able to tutor your child while they are in school as well. This option will need some organization and discussion with the school. - group sessions of two or more in person can be at $60 per student per hour. - if you book for a 10-week term in advance, I will provide you with a consult or assessment valued at a further $120. This may be a discussion with class teacher, assessment of possible learning difficulty, or providing parents with a set of lessons they can provide at home.
