About Ava
I am a piano tutor with 4 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with a Piano Focus. I have taught around 200 students from young beginners to adults returning to the instrument. My lessons focus on classical technique, jazz and pop chord playing, music theory, sight reading, and expressive performance. I create personalized lesson plans that reflect each student's goals and musical interests. I use backing tracks, ear training tools, and play-along apps to keep lessons dynamic and enjoyable. I am patient, enthusiastic, and dedicated to making every student feel capable and motivated. I have helped students pass ABRSM and Rockschool examinations with excellent results. I work with students of all ages and love watching the moment things click for each learner. My lessons are structured but never rigid, always leaving space for musical exploration. My piano lessons follow a clear and progressive structure that builds technique, theory, and musicality together. Every session begins with scales and finger exercises to develop coordination and technical consistency. I teach music theory alongside pieces from the very first lesson so students understand what they are playing. Younger students benefit from visual aids, musical stories, and short engaging pieces that build enthusiasm. Adults work directly on songs they love while developing solid underlying skills and theory. Exam students receive focused preparation including mock tests and feedback on all required areas. I use backing tracks to develop timing and the feeling of real music-making. Improvisation and composition are offered to students who want to develop creative piano skills. I end every lesson with a clear written practice plan so home practice is always focused. My goal is to give every student the skills and love of music that lasts a lifetime.
