About Landon
I’m a piano tutor with 7 years of teaching experience and a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Piano Performance. My focus is on helping serious students prepare for top-tier jazz programmes like Berklee, Juilliard, and other conservatories. I bring both academic depth and real-world insight into each lesson. Jazz is my passion—its complexity, its freedom, and its demand for both discipline and creativity. I specialise in guiding students through advanced harmony, voicing, and improvisation techniques. We explore everything from bebop phrasing to modal theory to extended chord progressions. I believe that every student has their own voice waiting to be discovered and refined. Lessons are intense but encouraging, tailored to match your current level and long-term goals. I’ve helped students develop strong audition portfolios and build confidence in their playing. We also focus on ear training, transcription, and rhythmic accuracy—core tools for any aspiring jazz pianist. My goal is to prepare you not just for acceptance into elite programmes, but for excellence once you’re there.

My teaching approach combines strong piano fundamentals with modern music technology. I help students build classical technique while also exploring digital tools that expand their sound. We use digital pianos, synthesisers, and DAWs to learn how traditional and electronic music can work together. I also teach basic recording techniques so students can capture and share their music. Lessons include sight-reading, ear training, and expressive control, along with sound layering and MIDI programming. I support students who want to perform classical pieces and those who want to create new sounds using technology. For young talents and serious performers, I design lessons that encourage both discipline and creativity. We focus on developing musical fluency while learning how to shape and produce music with modern tools. Each session is tailored to the student’s level and goals. I help students understand how to make the piano sound bigger, fuller, and more personal. My goal is to turn traditional practice into a gateway for musical innovation.
