About Ryu
Hi, I’m Ryu, a jazz guitarist from Miami. I recently graduated from New World School of the Arts and will be attending The New School in New York this fall. I am a two-time YoungArts winner in jazz guitar and an alumnus of NYO Jazz. I’ve had the opportunity to perform at venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, as well as internationally in Latin America. As a teacher, I focus on creating a supportive environment where students can build confidence, develop strong fundamentals, and enjoy the process of learning music. I believe patience, consistency, and curiosity are the keys to growth on any instrument.

I recently graduated from New World School of the Arts and will be attending The New School in New York. My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals and can cover improvisation, jazz harmony, ear training, technique, music theory, learning tunes, transcription, and building an effective practice routine. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced player looking to develop your voice on the instrument, I’ll help you build the skills, confidence, and musical understanding needed to reach your goals.
